How to sign up and send money to India.

To send money to India with ComplyRemit, sign up and choose a personal or business account, verify your identity and wait for a one-time review. Then link your US bank through Plaid, add a recipient's UPI ID or Indian bank account, enter an amount, confirm with an emailed code and track the transfer until it is delivered.

Should I open a personal or a business account?

Choose a personal account if you are sending your own money to family, friends or your own account in India. Choose a business account if a US-registered company is paying people or suppliers in India. You pick on the very first screen after signing up, and the choice cannot be changed later.

The choice decides what we have to verify — one person, or a company and its owners — which is why a personal account and a business account are always kept separate.

How do I sign up for a personal account?

Create an account with your email and choose Personal. Then fill in two or three short screens: your name, date of birth, nationality and phone number, followed by your present address and, if it is different, your permanent address. Addresses autocomplete as you type and are checked before you continue, so typos are caught early.

You can edit your details until our team begins reviewing them. After that they lock, so a verified identity cannot be changed without anyone noticing.

How do I verify my identity?

Verification runs through Persona and needs a government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license or state ID, and a selfie. Most checks finish in under a minute, and you do it once rather than for every transfer. Adding your Social Security number afterwards is optional and raises how much you can send.

How does a business sign up?

The person applying acts as the company's authorised signatory. They enter the company's legal name, EIN, the state that registered it, its business type, industry, contact details and registered address, then their own details. Everyone who owns 25% or more of the company verifies their identity, and our team reviews the business before approval.

Business review usually takes a few business days, because the company, its tax ID and every owner are checked. Business accounts are not open yet: they are being prepared and cannot be approved today, while personal accounts are open now.

Once a business is approved, everything below works exactly as it does on a personal account — funded from the company's own US bank account, with every payment belonging to the business.

What happens after I finish signing up?

Every new account is reviewed by a person on our team before it can send, and this happens only once. While the review is in progress, the app shows a screen that updates on its own. If we cannot approve an account, we tell you why rather than leaving you waiting without an answer.

How do I add a recipient in India?

Add the recipient's name, then how they are paid: an Indian bank account number with its IFSC code, or a UPI ID. The account is checked with the recipient's bank when you add it, usually in seconds, so a wrong IFSC or a closed account is caught before any money moves.

A UPI ID is the quickest to enter, while a bank account suits larger amounts because UPI payouts have a lower per-transfer ceiling. Recipients stay saved, and you can also add your own NRE or NRO account under Send to yourself.

How do I send money to a recipient?

Choose the recipient and enter the amount in dollars; the range you can send appears under the field. The review screen then shows what you send, the exchange rate and what your recipient receives. Confirm, then enter the six-digit code we email you. Nothing is sent until that code is entered.

The code is tied to that exact recipient, amount and bank account, and it expires after ten minutes. The email repeats those details, so you can spot anything you did not intend before you type it in.

How do I track a transfer after I send it?

Every transfer moves through visible stages in the app, from collecting the money from your bank to the payout in India, each with a reference you can copy for support. Collecting from your US bank usually takes one to three business days over ACH, and the payout then usually lands within a few hours.

You are notified when the transfer is delivered. If it cannot be completed, the amount collected from your bank is returned. For help, open the chat in the app or email [email protected].
