DattaRemit is now ComplyRemit

Identity verification and why we ask for it.

Everyone who sends money with ComplyRemit verifies their identity once, with a government photo ID and a selfie through Persona. Two further steps are optional: adding your Social Security number raises how much you can send, and an enhanced review is available if you need to send more than that.

Why do I have to verify my identity?

Moving money across borders is regulated, and every provider must know who is sending funds before moving them. Verification also protects you: it makes it far harder for someone to open an account in your name or send money you did not authorise. You verify once, not for every transfer.

What do I need to verify my identity?

A valid government-issued photo ID — most people use a driver's license or state ID — and a selfie taken with your phone or computer. The details you entered are confirmed rather than typed again, and most checks finish in under a minute. The check runs through Persona, our identity verification partner.

Why would I add my Social Security number?

It is optional, and it raises how much you can send in each transfer. After your identity is verified you can add your SSN with a quick selfie. It takes about two minutes, needs no documents, and the higher limit applies as soon as the check passes. This step is for personal accounts.

How do I send more than my limit allows?

Ask for a higher limit from the verification screen. Have a recent pay stub and a bank statement from the last ten days ready to upload securely. A reviewer usually decides within about two business days, and approval is not guaranteed. If you have not added your SSN yet, you will be asked to do that first.

Larger requests can also ask where your wealth comes from. If a review is not approved, your account keeps working exactly as before, at your existing limit.

Can I change my details after I verify?

You can edit your details until review begins. They lock while review is in progress and once you are verified, so a verified identity cannot be changed without anyone noticing. If something genuinely needs correcting, contact support and we will help you update it through the proper checks.

What happens to my documents?

Your ID, selfie and any review documents are uploaded straight to Persona and used only to verify you; we never see or store the documents themselves. On our side, sensitive details such as phone numbers and account numbers are encrypted field by field with AES-256.
