Compare honestly.

These five checks work on any provider, including us. Run them at the moment you are about to send, not from memory.

1. Compare the amount that arrives, not the fee — A provider can advertise a zero fee and take more than a provider charging five dollars, by quoting a worse exchange rate. Fee and rate are two halves of one price and cannot be judged apart. Enter the same amount on both sites and compare the single number each one says the recipient will receive.
2. Compare at the same moment — Exchange rates move continuously. A comparison made from two screenshots taken an hour apart measures the market, not the providers. Open both quotes at once.
3. Check the rate is held, and for how long — A quote that is only indicative can move between the moment you accept it and the moment the money is taken. Look for the point at which the rate is confirmed, and what happens if it changes after that.
4. Check what the recipient has to do — Some payouts require the recipient to collect the money, register with a service, or hold a particular kind of account. A transfer that arrives faster but requires a trip to a branch is not faster.
5. Check who is regulated, and where — Find the licensed entity that actually holds and moves the money, and the jurisdiction it is licensed in. It is not always the brand on the website, and it is the entity your money is protected by.

Exchange rates and fees move, and a figure we publish about another provider is a figure we cannot keep current or substantiate on their behalf.
