How long a transfer actually takes.
Most of the wait in an international transfer is the debit from your own bank, not the payout. An ACH pull from a US checking account settles over one to three business days; once it has cleared, delivery to the recipient typically happens within 48 hours.
Why does an international transfer take days?
Because two separate movements have to happen in order. First the money leaves your bank, which on the US ACH network settles over one to three business days. Only then can the payout be released. The second half is fast; the first half is the domestic banking system's timetable, not the transfer provider's.
This is why a transfer started on a Friday afternoon can look stalled until the middle of the following week. ACH settles on business days, and weekends and US bank holidays are not business days.
It is also why a provider quoting minutes is usually describing the payout leg alone, or is advancing its own money against your pending debit.
How long does a ComplyRemit transfer take?
Funds are typically delivered to the recipient within 48 hours of the debit clearing from your US bank account. Customers may become eligible for instant transfers, under ten minutes, once they have enough transaction history. Delivery also depends on banking hours, compliance checks and bank holidays at both ends.
Payouts to a UPI ID in India are credited in rupees, usually within minutes of the transfer being funded.
Why is my first transfer slower than the ones after it?
A first transfer carries one-time steps the later ones do not: identity verification, linking and verifying your funding account, and the checks that confirm the account is in your own name. None of them repeat. The transfer itself is not slower — the setup around it happens once.
What should I do if a transfer is late?
Check the activity screen first: every transfer shows which stage it is at, which separates a debit still clearing from a payout being processed. If the stage has not moved and the expected window has passed, contact support with the transfer reference — they can investigate anything that has not settled as expected.
If a transfer cannot be completed at all, the full amount debited from your funding source is returned to it.
