ComplyRemit vs Wise
Wise is a large multi-currency transfer and account provider, operating in most major corridors and well known for publishing its fees against the mid-market rate.
What is the difference between ComplyRemit and Wise?
Wise is a multi-currency account and a transfer service in one: you can hold balances in many currencies, spend them on a card and send to most countries. ComplyRemit moves US dollars from your linked US bank account to a bank account or UPI ID in India. You hold no balance with us.
Do I need a multi-currency account to send money to India?
No. A multi-currency account is useful if you earn, hold or spend in several currencies. To send dollars to family in India you need a US bank account to pay from and the recipient's Indian bank details or UPI ID. ComplyRemit pulls the dollars from your bank and pays out rupees, and holds nothing for you in between.
Is ComplyRemit or Wise cheaper for sending money to India?
It depends on the amount and the moment, so neither of us can tell you in advance. Both price against the mid-market exchange rate, which keeps the check simple: enter the same dollar amount on both sites at the same time and compare the rupees each says will arrive. That figure is the price.
What does ComplyRemit do for India that a general provider does not?
ComplyRemit is built around the one corridor. You can pay out to a UPI ID or to a bank account on equal terms, and we ask the sender directly whether the account is NRE or NRO. A provider covering many countries has to treat India as one destination among them.
When Wise is the better choice
If you send to many countries, hold balances in several currencies, or want a multi-currency debit card, Wise does things we do not. We move US dollars to one corridor and are built around that.
A note on the numbers
We publish no exchange rate or fee figures for Wise on this page. We have no way to source their live pricing, keep it current or date it, and an out-of-date number about a competitor, published by a money transmitter, is worse than no number. Compare the two live quotes instead; our five checks for comparing any two providers take about two minutes.
