ComplyRemit vs Xoom
Xoom is PayPal's international transfer service, with wide corridor coverage and payout options including cash pickup in many countries.
Where we differ
- The rate you are shown is the rate you are charged — The recipient amount on the review screen is what is credited. We do not add a margin to the exchange rate and describe the result as a free transfer.
- Built for one corridor, properly — The live corridor is the United States to India, and the product is shaped around it — payout to a UPI ID as a first-class option rather than an afterthought, and the NRE-or-NRO choice put to the sender explicitly rather than guessed at.
- Compliance is the product, not the paperwork — Identity verification, sanctions screening and the regulated partner that holds the funds are described in full on our compliance page, including who our subprocessors are. Most providers disclose less than this and disclose it further from the front page.
When Xoom is the better choice
If you already keep a balance in PayPal, or you need cash pickup at a physical location, Xoom is set up for that and we are not.
How to check for yourself
Do not take either of our word for it. These checks settle it in a couple of minutes, with both sites open:
- Compare the amount that arrives, not the fee — A provider can advertise a zero fee and take more than a provider charging five dollars, by quoting a worse exchange rate. Fee and rate are two halves of one price and cannot be judged apart. Enter the same amount on both sites and compare the single number each one says the recipient will receive.
- Compare at the same moment — Exchange rates move continuously. A comparison made from two screenshots taken an hour apart measures the market, not the providers. Open both quotes at once.
- Check the rate is held, and for how long — A quote that is only indicative can move between the moment you accept it and the moment the money is taken. Look for the point at which the rate is confirmed, and what happens if it changes after that.
- Check what the recipient has to do — Some payouts require the recipient to collect the money, register with a service, or hold a particular kind of account. A transfer that arrives faster but requires a trip to a branch is not faster.
- Check who is regulated, and where — Find the licensed entity that actually holds and moves the money, and the jurisdiction it is licensed in. It is not always the brand on the website, and it is the entity your money is protected by.
A note on the numbers
We publish no exchange rate or fee figures for Xoom on this page. We have no way to source their live pricing, keep it current, or date it — and an out-of-date number about a competitor, published by a money transmitter, is worse than no number at all. Compare the two live quotes instead; the method above takes about two minutes.
