Remittance
A remittance is a transfer of money by someone working in one country to a recipient in another, typically to family in their country of origin.
The word covers the ordinary case of sending money home. It is distinguished from a commercial payment mainly by who is sending and why — remittances are personal, recurring, and usually small relative to a business transfer.
Remittances are regulated as money transmission almost everywhere. That is why a provider asks to verify your identity before your first transfer, and why the recipient's details matter more than they would for a domestic payment.
